Working as a duo, we were tasked with creating a motion piece that interprets an article about AI. The Article chosen to interpret is: "AI, Art and the Ruins of Human Creativity," by Sarah Manavis.

Article

The article explores how AI-generated art, while technically impressive, lacks the emotional depth and lived experience that define true human creativity. It warns that over-relying on AI risks turning soulful, meaningful art into soulless mimicry. The heart of the argument? Creativity isn’t just about producing—it’s about feeling, remembering, and being human.

Script

After deciding which article to work with, we had to ask ChatGPT to create a script for a one minute motion piece. After a couple inputs and edits, this was the final script.

Concept and Moodboard

For this project we wanted to focus on how AI can’t replicate human emotion and lived experience. Even if AI can produce pieces in a matter of seconds, how does it make you feel? Is there a soul in it? What does it reveal about the human experience that isn't found in a textbook?

Style Exploration

We made many attempts to use AI to create motion pieces we could incluce in our final piece but unfortunately we weren't satisfied with any of the outputs.
